Valda started singing from the time she could talk it’s been said. However, she officially began at the age of 8. She started of in the school choir, and participated in a number of school shows and inter-school choir competitions. She then joined her local Catholic Church choir. When she started her first job as a teacher at the Portsmouth Secondary School, she took up the position of song and dance instructor in the Creative Arts Club. A former beauty queen and model, Valda is no stranger to the stage and performing. She was second runner-up in Ms. Dominica 2000, crowned Ms. Summer 2000 and participated at Ms. West Indies in St. Martin in 2001. The transition to lead vocalist of the Seramix Band in 1999 was quite seamless. During that time the band performed weekly on Rivage Guadeloupe', a French yacht carrying mainly European Tourists.
